I installed NPD.view, but every time I try to run the application I get an error. I'm using an ASUS PC with Windows 10 on it. Please, help.

Answer by Stephen Prastman

According to its official website, NPD.view is compatible with Windows 7, 8 and 10, so you shouldn't have any issues running it. Furthermore, I even installed and ran it on my Windows 10 PC and it worked without a glitch, so the error is strictly from your PC and most likely related to graphics driver or DirectX issues.

Here are a few things that you could try to solve the problem:

  • Run the program as administrator.
  • Uninstall and reinstall the application.
  • Install (reinstall) the latest .NET framework.
  • Update (reinstall) the drivers for your graphics card.
  • Reinstall DirectX.

Is it possible to send the slide images to other users via email? I do not want to have to take screenshots or only send one image at a time.

Answer by Alex Urbach

I've checked the official user guide for this application and it doesn't appear to have a built-in send email function that you can use to export your content. However, there is a take screenshot function accessible through the main menu. I know the process might be tedious, but it's the only way or you can forward a request to the developers to implement this function.

I have some .svs files and I cannot open them with NDP.View. Is there any additional program I can use or can I convert the SVS files to use NDP.View to open it?

A
Answer by Alex Urbach

I've installed the application and it appears that it supports SVS files, but to open them, a license for the software needs to be acquired, as indicated in the screenshot posted below.

Note: File conversion is not possible because it doesn't have this function, but importing should work well.

I am currently doing a PhD and I want to use NDP.view to analyze pathology images. However, I bought a Macbook two months ago, but it seems that NDP.view only runs on Windows systems. Is this correct? If it is, I am thinking about buying VMware Fusion 5 (Mac software that allows you to run Windows applications on your Mac computer). Does anyone knows if NDP.view runs on so called visualization programs?

L
Answer by Leonard Moore

Yes. You can use a visualization program like the one you mentioned in order to run the NDP.view application on a Mac computer. However, according to the official website of the product, it seems that the latest version of the program can be run on Mac OS X 10.7 or Mac OS X 10.8. Because of this and to avoid any compatibility issues, try to download the appropriate version for your OS.
